This is not working for me. I'm using Notes on linux... Here's what I've tried (repeatedly):

- rm -r /home/username/lotus
- start Lotus Notes
- go through setup
- /home/username/lotus is created and populated with ~/lotus/notes/data/files
- copy ~/lotus/notes/data to another location
- open preferences and set data location to the alternate directory
- exit Notes
- start Notes
- all goes well
- rename original folder to ~/lotus_bk
- try to start Notes and get nothing
- rename ~/lotus_bk back to ~/lotus and it works, even though notes.ini reads the alternate directory.

It's almost as if it's relying on the notes.ini file in the primary directory to point it to the data in the alternate directory, but without that file living in the primary directory it can't find anything.

Is there anyway to truly get Lotus Notes to operate from a different directory???

Best regards,
J
